Growing Independence
Simple routines, choices, and self-help skills
Our Toddler 2 Program
The Toddler 2 Program supports older toddlers as they become more independent, communicative, and engaged with the world around them. Through active play, responsive teaching, and familiar classroom routines, children practice emerging skills, express their ideas, and build confidence with each new experience.
Older toddlers are eager to move, communicate, imitate, and participate. Our Toddler 2 classroom provides a supportive balance of familiar routines and new challenges, giving children daily opportunities to practice coordination, expand their language, solve simple problems, and connect with teachers and classmates. Each experience is designed to encourage curiosity while respecting every child’s individual pace.

Purposeful Play and Emerging Skills
Older toddlers learn by moving, experimenting, repeating, and interacting with the people around them. Teachers introduce engaging experiences that encourage children to make choices, test ideas, practice new words, and use their growing physical abilities in safe and meaningful ways.
Partnership With Families
The Toddler 2 stage can bring rapid changes in movement, language, preferences, and independence. Teachers share meaningful updates about classroom experiences, meals, rest, mood, emerging skills, and important moments so families remain connected to their child’s day.
We collaborate with parents around routines, communication, comfort needs, developmental changes, and growing self-help skills. Consistency between home and school helps children understand expectations while giving them the reassurance they need to try new things.
Open communication and familiar routines help older toddlers feel confident, capable, and supported.
Age-appropriate choices and simple routines help children practice doing more for themselves.
Words, gestures, songs, and conversation help children express needs, ideas, and discoveries.
Active movement strengthens balance, body awareness, and growing physical control.
Hands-on activities encourage children to experiment, repeat, and discover how things work.
Shared classroom experiences support early cooperation and relationships with others.
Toddler 2 gives children room to practice emerging skills while staying connected to caring, responsive teachers. From communicating a need to completing a simple routine or solving a new problem, each success builds confidence. We celebrate children’s growing independence while providing the consistency, reassurance, and encouragement this active stage still requires.
The original supply list is designated Toddler Room and does not distinguish Toddler 1 from Toddler 2. Check with your child’s classroom team about applicability and any updated instructions.
