Early Literacy
Stories, sounds, language, and early writing
Our Pre-K Program
Four- and five-year-olds are ready to take on bigger ideas, greater responsibility, and new ways of learning with others. Our Pre-K 4 Program combines purposeful play, caring guidance, and engaging classroom experiences to strengthen early academic foundations, communication, independence, and social confidence.
Kindergarten readiness is about more than recognizing letters and numbers. Children also need opportunities to communicate their ideas, follow routines, work with classmates, solve everyday problems, manage growing responsibilities, and approach new experiences with confidence. Our Pre-K 4 classroom supports the whole child through a thoughtful balance of teacher-guided learning, independent choices, movement, creativity, and play.

Purposeful Learning Through Play
Pre-K children learn through conversation, stories, hands-on materials, movement, creativity, and meaningful interaction. Teachers introduce experiences that help children build early academic skills while continuing to ask questions, make choices, explore ideas, and enjoy the process of learning.
Partnership With Families
Families know their children best. Ongoing communication helps teachers understand each child’s interests, strengths, routines, and areas of emerging growth while helping families stay connected to classroom experiences.
Teachers share meaningful observations about learning, friendships, independence, classroom participation, and developing skills. This partnership helps children experience consistent encouragement as they prepare for the transition to kindergarten.
Every child develops at an individual pace. Our goal is to recognize progress, support emerging skills, and help each child approach the next step with confidence.
Growing vocabulary, listening skills, story comprehension, sound awareness, and confidence communicating ideas.
Experience with counting, quantities, patterns, shapes, comparison, and age-appropriate problem-solving.
Greater responsibility for belongings, classroom routines, choices, and age-appropriate self-care tasks.
Practice cooperating, taking turns, expressing feelings, navigating challenges, and participating in group learning.
The confidence to ask questions, try unfamiliar tasks, practice new skills, and learn from experience.
The Pre-K 4 year is filled with meaningful growth. Children strengthen early academic foundations, take on greater independence, build deeper friendships, and develop the confidence to participate in a learning community. At Beacon Academy, we help children move toward kindergarten feeling capable, curious, and excited about what comes next.
