Toddler Program

We believe that a child’s earliest learning experiences set the stage for school success. Our Toddler Program encourages growth in language, literacy and intellectual curiosity.

Older toddlers are encouraged to develop social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills while participating in a small group setting that begins to foster a love of learning. Fostering our learning to play, playing to learn philosophy, your child is sure to flourish.

Our Toddler Room curriculum focuses on the following areas of development:

Gross Motor Skills

Gross motor skills are larger movements your baby makes with his arms, legs, feet, or his entire body. At Beacon Academy, our program focuses on kicking, walking, running, jumping, and eye-hand coordination.

Fine Motor Skills

Finger and hand movements, and a wide variety of activities designed to develop these skills from finger painting, and stringing large beads to developing their pincer grip, eating finger foods and making and manipulating clay.

Social/Emotional Skills

Social-emotional development includes the child’s experience, expression, and management of emotions and the ability to establish positive and rewarding relationships with others. It encompasses both intra- and interpersonal processes.. At Beacon Academy, your child will be learning to take turns and share with classmates, explore their emotions, and learn patience and cooperation.

Cognitive Skills

Cognitive skills are the core skills your brain uses to think, read, learn, remember, reason, and pay attention. Working together, they take incoming information and move it into the bank of knowledge you use every day at school and in life. These skills include thinking, learning and accumulation of knowledge. Your child will begin to learn about the weather, identify shapes and colors, and begin to count.

Communication Skills

Toddlers are encouraged to put their wants and needs into words. We sing songs, read books, and learn nursery rhymes to help our little ones increase their vocabularies.
